Peter and Christina’s Michener Art Museum wedding was the first leg of a back-to-back wedding weekend for us. Let me just say that they set the bar really high. Kate and I joined Christina and her ladies at Peter’s parents house in Doylestown for prep in the morning. Peter’s mom made us feel like family all morning and throughout the day. I hadn’t met Peter in person at this point, but I could tell he’d be quality because he came from great stock. Christina and her ladies had a lovely morning getting ready and enjoying each other’s company. Christina also had several family members make their way from Taiwan for the wedding so they were there all morning as well. After a while, I headed across town to spend some time with the guys. On a normally wedding day, the men take 15 minutes max to get completely dressed, so there is normally a plethora of downtime and relaxing. This day aligned perfectly with this trend. Peter and his guys enjoyed a nice lunch of hoagies and craft beer and then spent the next hour or so catching up and enjoying the company. I eventually went back over to where the ladies were to grab some shots of Christina finishing up and getting dressed. It was then off to the Michener Art Museum.
(I am going to pause this blog post for a second to make a little confession- It may rub some people the wrong way, so if you fit into that category, please forgive me. I haven’t ever been in an art museum. Not this one, not the Philadelphia Art Museum, nothing. Kate mentioned “The Met” at one point in the day- I had ZERO clue what she was talking about. I had never been there, let alone heard of it. I truly do appreciate (most) art, so I need to come out from the rock I live under and check some places out. The Michener Art Museum was very neat to say the least… Ok, back to these two amazing people.)
Once both parties were there, we set the almost newlyweds up for their first look. There was so much anticipation, emotion, happiness, and excitement between these two. I love seeing when the raw feelings flow. These two adore each other and my finger didn’t stop clicking for like five minutes straight once they had their first look. After they had their moment together, we took some bridal party and family pictures, followed by a handful of just the two of them around the property before the ceremony got underway. Once the guests were all seated in the center courtyard, the Quaker style ceremony began. Two of their friends facilitated the ceremony, but for all intents and purposes, it followed the Quaker format. For those of you who are unfamiliar, there is a portion of time during the ceremony for guests, friends and family to say a word to the couple. Some recounted a memory, others gave well-wishes, while others spoke of the kind of people Christina and Peter are. It was beautiful.
After the “I-Dos”, everyone made their way to the statue garden for cocktail hour. The drapes surrounding the floor-to-ceiling glass ballroom went up and a short time later, the new couple was being introduced to their reception. Catering By Design and DJ Jimbo kept everyone well fed and entertained all night long. Christina’s sister had a few games planned; including for Peter to show his undying love for Christina and for Christina to show she can identify her groom out of a batch of five or six guys on touch alone. Later on in the evening, we stole the happy couple for a little while to get a few more shots around twilight. Before we knew it, the night was over. This day flew by for us and it there couldn’t have been a better couple to work with.
Peter and Christina, first of all- Congrats again. You both are kind, genuine, and thoughtful. We wish you the absolute best and hope for cross paths with you again in the future. For now, enjoy a handful of our favorite images from the day.
