You might think having a wedding at the beach a few days after Christmas is a crazy idea. You would think wrong. Kyle and Kristen’s Winter wedding at Icona Avalon is what beach weddings are (should be) made of- beautiful weather, all of your friends and family, an awesome venue, and best yet- zero beach crowds! Some of us even went in the ocean for a quick dip- at least that’s how I’m telling the story. Either way, the day was perfect start to finish. Matt and I joined Kristen and her ladies in the bridal suite in the morning and then Matt jumped over to Kyle and the guys for a while. This whole crew was very laid back and made the day so pleasant. After everyone was ready to go, we got Kyle set up for the first look. Kristen followed shortly after and the looks on their faces when they saw each other for the first time was priceless. I love doing first looks with couples for this reason alone! After that, we converged in the new cocktail hour space for some bridal party and family pictures. Kristen planned her timeline perfectly, so she had plenty of time after we wrapped up for some downtime. After a bit of rest, the gears started turning for the ceremony. Guests began arriving and shortly after, Kristen and her dad were making their way down the aisle. They had an absolutely beautiful ceremony which wrapped up just in time to catch the sun setting over the beach. We snuck the bridal party out for a few more pictures and then played around a bit more with the newlyweds. A short time later, they joined their cocktail hour while we began to get ready for the reception. Weddings have so many moving parts and if you don’t have a system in place to balance everything, it can get out of control. I am so glad we have a process for each part of the day that makes sure everything runs smoothly and enables us to get all of the shots we need without dominating the bride and groom’s time all night long. A short time later, everyone entered the ballroom and the real celebration began. Kyle, Kristen, their friends and family all had a night filled with dancing, eating, and enjoying themselves. Just like that, it was over. I am so glad I was able to relive the day in the pictures and know that Kyle and Kristen will be able to do so for the rest of their lives also! That is truly why we do what we do!
