Portraits in Mexico | Highlights From My Trip

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Mexico with a group of wedding photographers from all over the world. It was a great time, and I got to get to know a bunch of them in a better way. Sure, there was a lot of sitting poolside, and checking out the local town, but we also broke out the cameras a bit.

When I was packing and deciding what gear to bring, I wanted to grab a few lenses that I rarely use. I figured I’d play around with a little night photography and would want a really wide lens. I didn’t put a ton of thought into it though. All that to say, one of the days, we decided to have a few of the couples model for us and we split into groups to shoot them. It was a lot of fun to shoot new people in new locations etc. It was especially challenging, in a good way, for me because I had to use a lens that I never use for portraits. It was a great way for me to stretch myself, and think outside of the box. I found that I really loved shooting with the particular lens. Moral of the story- Do things in life that are stretching. It will make you grow. Maybe it is strange at first, but in the end, you’ll be glad you did.

A special thanks to all of the photographers who welcomed me to your group. You guys are awesome!

Check out a few of the images I took while there.
