Some weddings just hit differently. Each and every one is unique and hosts a potpourri (real talk: I misspelled that like eight times before I just googled it and even google was confused at what I was trying to say…) of amazing people, places, and events that make it what it is. Michael and Jeffrey’s springtime wedding at Tendenza in Philadelphia was wonderful to be a part of and I hope that as you look through the images, you’re able to get a sense why. Not all was fun and games that day though. On weddings days, I always give myself a significant buffer to get to the starting location. And on some days, I ever give myself extra time to drop my car off at the venue and then take an Uber to the hotel. The morning of this wedding though, I got out to the car and… drumroll please… Dead battery. To make matters worse, my wife and the kids were away so I had to get a neighbor to give me a jump. To make matters even worse than that, I had to drop the dog off at the dog-watcher’s house before heading into the city. At this point, my blood pressure is rising quite a bit.
On my way into Philadelphia for the wedding, I made the call to just head to the hotel, park there and then get an Uber at the end of the night… I ended up being 15 minutes early so it was ultimately no big deal but quickly, that stress dissipated when I started working with Jeffrey, Michael, and their crew. Once prep was done, we hopped on the trolly provided by Cescaphe and took some stops at Rittenhouse Square, South Broad Street and City Hall. From there, we made our way to Tendenza so that the wedding party could knock out rehearsal. During some downtime before the ceremony, we took care of family pictures and then huddled up in the suite for some toasts by Jeffrey’s dad and brother.
By this point, guests were starting to arrive and in no time, the wedding began. After a short ceremony, and a few quiet moments between one another, the newlyweds joined their guests for cocktail hour. Tendenza never disappoints with the quality food and drinks they provide. From here, it was on to the formal reception. Throughout the night, the night, there were an array of special dances, meaningful toasts, the hora dance, and lots of celebration.
Jeffrey, Michael and their friends and family sure know how to party! It was so much fun capturing all of these moments for them. At one point in the evening, I grabbed the two of them for some portraits outside, which was a welcomed break for both of them to cool down.
Most of my weddings have two photographers, but for this one, it was just me covering the day. These types of days are a fun challenge as I know that I am solely responsible for the outcome and cannot lean on a second shooter for any moments. That being said, I absolutely love how this day turned out and I have not blogged this many images in years.
I hope you love this collection of images as much as I do!
If you like this springtime wedding at Tendenza in Philadelphia and are planning a wedding, or know someone who is, we’d love to hear from you!
