I often say that weddings in Philadelphia are cake year round because there are an endless supply of colors, textures, and “sweet spots”. With that said, Springtime is absolutely gorgeous in the city; especially when you tie in a fantastic couple (Austin and Lourdes), perfect weather, and a great venue (The Ritz Carlton). If I had to wrap it up in a short phrase, it would be “wedding goals”. I’ll tell you why- Samantha and I joined Lourdes and her bridesmaids for hair and makeup in the hotel, and then headed up to her suite for the rest of prep. The Ritz Carlton doesn’t get their reputation by being “just another hotel”. They get it by all of the little touches of care and detail in the room. They even had shortbread cookies in the room with their wedding date. While the ladies were continuing to get ready, I joined Austin for some groom prep. The guys always take like 30-40 seconds to get ready, so after shooting him for a bit, I rejoined the ladies. In short order, they were ready for their first look. We jumped in an UBER and headed to the Barnes Foundation. This is an absolutely wonderful location for pictures, but keep in mind that permission is needed. They had a beautiful first look, which was followed by some bridal party and bride and groom shots. We took advantage of the area and then headed back over to City Hall for family pictures. The almost newlyweds had a little downtime before the ceremony started, so we used it as an opportunity to set up for he rest of the day. They had a beautiful ceremony not long after and then joined their guests for cocktail hour on the second floor of the hotel. The staff at the Ritz quickly transformed the ballroom into a stunning reception site. What an amazing location! We were able to get some shots in the room before all of the guests took their seats. The EBE Band “Amsterdam” was absolutely amazing all night long. They got the party started and it didn’t stop until the night was done. Everyone had a great time. We snuck Austin and Lourdes outside at the end of the night for a few parting shots. This was an absolutely perfect day!
