Engagement Session

This time of year, wedding and engagement photographers in the northeastern part of the country are longing for warmer days when the colors pop and life all around becomes more vibrant. Well, I guess I cannot speak for other photographers, but that is often how I feel. Last week, I shot Joel and Katie an email confirming our engagement session for Tuesday. The last two attempts we had for their session were rescheduled because of impending monsoons (to use the term liberally). I was absolutely pumped though for this third try- because you know…Snow. It’s not very often I have the opportunity to shoot in the white stuff, but when I do, it’s a blast. We started the session like many others; walking, talking, and catching up a bit, since it had been a while since the last time we saw each other face to face. Not rushing into pictures right away often helps to ease the butterflies couples have about having their pictures taken. As we made our way to the far end of the property, the snow was falling perfectly and I was welling with joy. Well, we got to said location and it took a break for a little while. No worries though, we proceeded like normal. Joel and Katie are naturals and I barely had to put them together and they were doing the rest on their own. We worked from location to location as the snow intensified. Finally, we made our way to the side of the lake and the snowflakes were literally the size of golfballs. For real. They were huge. After trekking to a few more spots and playing around with the surroundings, we made it back to the cars. The snow had briefly turned to sleet, so I broke out the umbrella for a few final shots. This session was a blast and I cannot wait to work with these two again in a few weeks. Be on the lookout for their wedding day at the Stoltzfus Homestead. For now, enjoy a few of my favorites from their snowy engagement session.
